Executive Team

R. P. Furton
President

Pete Furton has been involved in the systems and instrument business for over 40 years.  He was a principal founder of Horiba Instruments, Inc., and directed its growth to a dominant position within the industry, resigning as President in July of 1981.  He previously held marketing and administrative positions with Beckman Instruments, Inc., and holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Houston.

H. J. Peper 
Sr. Vice President

Hal Peper joined the company in 1998.  Hal has served in many senior management positions throughout his career with Beckman Instruments, Inc., resigning his position as Vice President – World Marketing and Sales.  Hal began his career at Beckman Instruments in 1959 after serving four years as an officer in the U.S. Navy.  His sales, marketing expertise and leadership have been significant factors in Beckman’s growth and dominance in the medical and analytical instrumentation markets.  Mr. Peper holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Minnesota State University and he is a graduate of the UCLA Executive Management Program.

Matt Swanson
Vice President, Sales
Matt Swanson has been involved in mobile and stationary source emission measurement’s for the last 18 years. He has managed many EPA/State of California testing and laboratory management at CAI for the past 13 years. He has assisted in the development of several innovative products. He is also co-author of a patent for a mass measurement system. Matt has a BS degree from the University of California at San Diego.

G. A. DeMint
Vice President, Integrated Systems

Gerry DeMint has been involved in manufacturing and QA management in the system and instrumentation business for over 15 years.  He previously held management positions in the electronic assembly/manufacturing industry.  Gerry also holds a current General Contractor License for the State of California.

L. T. Mathews 
Vice President

Loren Mathews has been involved in the automotive emissions systems business since 1972.  Formerly the Chicago Regional Manager with Horiba Instruments, Inc., Mr. Mathews resigned his position in September of 1981.  A graduate of Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, Mr. Mathews is a senior member of I.S.A. and S.A.E. and has held engineering, sales and marketing positions with Motorola, Honeywell, Inc. and Keithley Instruments, Inc.

F. H. Smith 
Vice President of Marketing

Frank Smith came to CAI as a result of the Liston acquisition in 2006.  He brings detailed knowledge of applications and markets to his position.  Frank was with Liston for 13 years.  He spent 13 years with Beckman Instruments prior to coming to Liston where he served in Sales, Sales Management and Marketing Management positions.  Frank brings over 30 years of field experience to CAI.  He is firmly committed to the philosophy that understanding and meeting the customer’s needs both before and after the sale is the most important priority of the company.

D. K. Omer 
Chief Financial Officer

Doug Omer joined CAI in May of 2008.  He spent the last 10 years as Chief Operating Officer for Surface Protection Industries, Inc., a specialty paint manufacturer.  He previously held a number of senior financial positions with American Cyanamid, Beecham Pharmaceuticals and Roberts Consolidated.  Doug graduated from Sir George Williams University with honors in Business.

Dr. Murty Neti
Vice President of Research & Development

Dr. Murty Neti has been involved in the research and development of instrumentation for use in the process, automotive and clinical diagnostics markets while he was employed at Beckman Instruments and Rosemount Analytical.  He had key responsibilities for the instrumentation relating to electrochemical (pH, ORP, ISE and O2), chemiluminescence, fluorescence, and flame ionization analyzers.  He was on the faculty staff of the Universities of Illinois and Notre Dame.  He holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Bana Ras University, India.  Murty has designed and authored several existing and pending CAI patents.

Dr. K. A. Ramazan 
Research and Product Development Manager

Dr. Kevin Ramazan came from the semiconductor industry where he assisted in developing the manufacturing process of computer components at customers such as Intel, AMD, and Texas Instruments.  Prior to that, he performed atmospherically relevant gas phase chemical research which included designing and developing a long path FTIR system at UC Irvine.  Dr. Ramazan holds a B.S. degree in Pure Chemistry from UC Riverside and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Physical /Atmospheric Chemistry from UC Irvine.

D. R. Whineray 
Vice President, Engineering

Dave Whineray graduated from Manchester University (UMIST), UK in July 1968 and joined Chrysler Corporation’s subsidiary in England.  At Chrysler, he completed a post-graduate advanced automotive engineering course at Cranfield University.  Dave became involved in emissions technology and analyzers in the late 1960’s and has worked throughout the world for Beckman Instruments and Horiba Instruments in various positions from analyzer/systems design to technical support and sales/marketing, joining CAI in 1997.

D.B. White 
Integrated Systems Product Manager

David White has served as Custom Products Manager since July 1985.  David has been directly involved in the design of the current state of the art Emission Test Systems, including developing the innovative Computer Aided Design (CAD) system used for customer installation and service documentation.  David has held responsible positions at Horiba Instruments, Inc., Econolite Inc., and Crouse-Hines Inc.
